hmm.. i looked over my past posts and I realised that they are happy posts.
I wonder why... ???? dunno. maybe because i don't feel like blogging when i'm not in a good mood?
HIGHLY POSSIBLE. yup! must be!!
oh well.. its another happy post for now =)
You can never imagine the sort of stress I was in for the past wed, thurs and this mon, tue and today. 5 days in all!
I want to thank God for helping me complete a task that was so impossible to complete, i thought i would continue doing it for the rest of my days on attachment. Its that impossible!
A long story.. so get ready :)
It all started last weds when I was just filing some stuff when my colleague handed me two stacks of paper: AR (Accounts receivable) and AP (Accounts Payable) aging belonging to Whizz-Work Pte Ltd.
She said it was really urgent so I immediately started on the task.
In case you don't understand, perhaps I should elaborate.
What I had to do for AR aging was, I had to calculate the amount that each customers owed Whizz-Work and also calculate how long they have been owing the debt for.
Based on the ending date on the two stacks, I would then have to divide the amounts borrowed by each customer and put them into categories of 1-30 days, 31-60 days, 61 days-90 days, 91-120 days, 121-150 days and >150 days. For example, 1-30 days are amounts owed in the period counting from the ending date.
For AP aging, I had to calculate how much Whizz Work owed their creditors and also put them in the same categories.
At first I was thought it was no big deal, should be quite easy because its just adding.
I mean how hard could it get?
But when I started, it was suddenly apparent that this task would be really tedious.
The stacks were A3 and there was like 20 pages in each stack. The words were so tiny, i think its equivalent to font 8.
Other than that unfriendly appearance, I still had to find the top ten for Non-factored customers, Factored customers: Notified, Factored customers: Not Notified.
I had to go over each page and grab the top 10 amounts for each category. The rest would go under the category "Others".
That was the hardest part because at least for the other categories I had the ending balance of the top ten companies to check whether I calculated correctly where else for "Others", I wouldn't know whether I caluclated correctly until I completed all the categories: Factored customers, Non factored.. and checked with the total AR or AP balance at the last page.
oh my gosh.. kill me! and it was urgent?
So that was what I did for the past 5 days and it was so stressful because I had to complete it asap before my boss left for the US today (weds) which means I have to complete by yesterday.
I also didn't want to hai my colleague for not getting the file approved on time because she just came back on sick leave before giving me the task.
Thats why it was so urgent, she took leave for the past few days and couldn't give me the task earlier until it became urgent.
I spent days on the "Others" category because there were so many companies to calculate i may have left out some or double added them. I went through the stacks countless of times and i was more stressed when my boss kept coming to me to give me other stuff to do and I couldn't do it because I had the task to do.
I was so stressful I thought I was going botak. I really think stress is related to hair loss.
Hair either gets lost due to stress or even if its not natural, I pull hairs when I'm frustrated :P
I would have taken more days if God hadn't gave me a very good idea on how to check my mistakes. It just came to me and I wondered why I didn't think of it until today.
I normally would go through the stacks by categories. 1-30 days first then I would add all the amounts that fall in the categories and so on.
However, this morning I thought: I could also go company by company and see which categories each amount fell into and add accordingly. of course check using a high tech software: EXCEL.
I hadn't thought to use the auto sum until my colleague told me on mon.
Gong! :P
oh ya another thing to thank God for: the perseverance he gave me to go over each stack again and again.
There was this moment yesterday when i felt i was going crazy and couldn't take the stress anymore because by that time I had the feeling I would't complete it by the deadline (which was yesterday)
I just took out my mP3 and switched to the radio station 98.7 fm. When I put on my ear phones, I could just feel the stress draining out of me when I heard "rush" from Aly & AJ.

Music really does relief stress huh.
I took that as a sign from God that he has not forsaken me.

I had a great time with my cute sister yesterday in Orchard.
I didn't know how much I missed her till I saw her.
She's just a really sweet girl and she brightened up my yesterday =)
Had a good time catching up with her and I realised many common things that we liked.
Cinderella, for one was something we both liked. Its really hard to find someone who like Cinderella because the most popular ones would be Ariel or Sleeping Beauty but not Cinderella.
Cool man! We really are cute sisters!
