im so happy now. its difficult to express how happy I am. im really so happy that i can't contain it.
10th april- my bro's 21st birthday.
Im just so emotional when i think of my bro turning 21 and im really proud of the way he has turned out.
im so thankful to have him as my bro and it really saddens me when i think that one day, he will move out and we won't be able to live together anymore. honest. i would really miss him.
he really is a gem. okok, i admit we used to quarrel while growing up. actually, quarrel alot.
but who doesn't?
yet like my family, he is still very important in my life.
we had a wonderful time celebrating his birthday both yesterday and today.
yesterday, my mum and my aunt cooked a 10 course meal and we invited all our relatives to join in the celebration.
I had to rush home after church to help my ma prepare the ingredients. It was tiring, but it was worth it.
It was a very special day yesterday because my mum rarely cooked, actually hasn't cooked in years. You may not understand what the big deal is about because your mums cooked for you all the time but imagine having to eat outside food for years and not having home cooked food. i had always hoped that i could return home to nice cooked food without having to worry about eating out or da bao-ing but it just doesn't happen.
My jaw like totally dropped when my mum announced that she was going to cook a ten course meal for my brother's birthday. I was so elated i almost fainted.
i was worried that dinner would not turn out on time because mum hasn't cooked in a long time but thankfully dinner came out just on time, at 7 pm. After that, I was madly taking photos because i wanted to keep this in my memories for as long as possible.
believe me, it was 10 course! The food was absolutely delicious.
before dinner, my bro was presented with a gold cross for his 21st birthday by my aunt. cool huh? he also got a lot of hong bao money, that lucky guy. But it was well deserved because it was his 21st :)
I was especially emotional when my parents' in-laws met each other.
It is so rare that they meet each other. we would usually visit them separately but i suspect it has been a long time since they met each other again.
The last time they met? my guess would be the day i was born. it is that long!
To see them meet was... the feeling is indescribable or whatever that word is. they got along so well.
really sad that it had to end so fast but now that i think of it, they can always meet again when i turn 21 :) can't wait!!
today after work, i met my dad, ma, bro and his gf at jurong point to go to seoul garden for dinner.
but when we reached there, we saw the entrance boarded up with posters advertising the new restaurant that would replace it. BUMMER. of all days, we had to realise it was closed today.
GOODNESS!
but at least there was Swensens and we decided to indulge in a nice earthquake after dinner so that was where we went.
As swensens was located on the 2nd floor, we had to climb the stairs or take the escalator to go up. while we were going up on the escalator, i asked my bro why there would be stairs if there was already an escalator. i mean, who would wanna climb stairs if there was a better means of transport which in this case was the escalator. it was weird.
i don't know about you but if i knew i was going for a feast, i would be as lazy as possible to fit the "leisurely" mood and take the escalator.
oh well, enough about stairs and escalators. lets talk about the important parts.
it seemed that there were 2 people who had the same birthday as my bro in Swensens because we heard the birthday song playing twice in the restaurant but none of it was for my brother.
we were actually thinking of doing the same and get him a puple heart-shaped birthday balloon but he refused.
confused about the balloon? well, Swensens provided great service and one such service was giving the birthday person a balloon after the birthday song was played for them. The balloons were all quite normal, round shaped and all that except for the purple heart shaped balloon :P
After dinner, we went back home to cut my brother's birthday cake and give him our presents.
I bought him Lord of the Rings the 3 series with extended edition which was what he wanted and a cute cat postcard because he loves cats.
It was an enjoyable evening, even more so with my brother's girlfriend to spend it with us.
I'm getting to know her better and im really glad that she's with my bro because she is really a great girl and I'm beginning to understand why my brother likes her so much.
hope she becomes my sister in law because i can't imagine anyone better.
I just want to thank God for blessing my bro all the 21 years of his life and i pray that my family will be well and that we would live in harmony, growing closer to christ as a familyI
